Students come together for two full day rehearsals before the evening performance at the Drum Theatre, in front of parents, friends and representatives from all participating schools.
SIS Theatresports occurs in Term 2 and brings together students from participating schools for a workshop run by industry professionals where they learn the games and develop skills for competition. Later in Term 3, students compete against participating member schools in the Theatresports Championship.
Students across campuses collaborate to construct an illustrated novella within specific parameters, revealed to them on the day of competition. These novellas are ‘published’ and submitted for judging. The event is scheduled for Term 3.
Student names are put forward by their English teachers, and they are then invited to attend an information session where they can indicate if they would like to participate
SIS Public Speaking is an opportunity for students to practice oratory skills that will benefit them beyond the classroom. Students participate in the inter school competition early in Term 2 and may need to present a speech in order to receive a place in the competition.
Due to the limitations of places, students may have to present a speech in order to gain a place in the competition. Students are notified in the campus daily bulletin of meetings and information sessions in the lead up to competition day.
St Francis Xavier College is involved in the annual SIS Art & Technology Exhibition in Term 4. This exhibition is an opportunity to celebrate exceptional student artworks from a range of subjects including Art, VCD, Textiles, Wood and Electronics.
Each piece is carefully selected throughout the school year and is exhibited professionally at the Cube Gallery in the Frankston Arts Centre. The exhibition includes pieces from various Southern Independent Schools. During the course of the night, guests are invited to hear from a special guest speaker and to peruse the various artworks.
