Congratulations to all students and staff involved in coordinating such a spectacular production in Spamalot. The depth of talent on show is amazing and equal to that was the quality of the sets and costumes due the hard work of many staff and students. The Performing Arts program at St Francis Xavier College has been of the highest standard over a long period of time and year after year the students and staff deliver on that standard.
Tickets are still on sale for tonight’s, Friday’s and Saturday’s performance of Spamalot. Tickets can be purchased on the night as well (cash only). Click here to purchase tickets online.
Thank you to the many parents who attended this informative session on Wednesday evening at Beaconsfield where many insightful strategies were represent to promote positive parenting.
With a strong focus on differentiation in our classrooms, it is important to note that this is complimented by many opportunities offered to students to challenge themselves through participation in a range of extra-curricular programs. Coming up over the next two weeks across the college we have:
Da Vinci Decathlon: The da Vinci Decathlon is an academic competition designed to challenge and stimulate the minds of school students. Students compete in teams of eight across 10 disciplines: engineering, mathematics and chess, code breaking, art and poetry, science, English, ideation, creative producers, cartography and general knowledge. This is open to Year 7 students.
SIS Public Speaking Championships: Students are given the opportunity to speak on a given topic with a set time limit. Students compete from the upper echelon of public speakers from other schools and are judged on aspects of public speaking including; Diction, tone, timing, persuasive techniques employed and validity of argument.
NAPLAN testing occurs for Year 7 and 9 students for a fortnight beginning Tuesday 14 May. Students are tested against national benchmarks in the areas of Reading, Writing, Language Conventions and Numeracy. These tests will be conducted online at both the Berwick and Officer Campuses as a result it is vital that all students have their own set of personal headphones and ensure the battery on their device is charged fully before school each day, especially during this period.
Parents wishing to arrange holidays for students during the term need to complete an Application for Leave form available to download from PAM. A hard copy of the form may be requested from Reception.
