Our Religious Education Coordinators (RECs) Liam Doherty and Rachel MacDonald reported positive participation in the Year 7 Camp liturgies. Deacon Graeme Pender took our new students through am instructional service so that the purpose and practice of our prayers was made clear to the new students.
This week has seen the College begin the season of Lent. On Tuesday, Bishop Patrick O’Regan, along with staff and students from Sale Diocese schools launched the 2020 Caritas Project Compassion campaign at the Beaonsfield Campus. Gwen Michener from Caritas gifted schools with a Caritas pack, and McDonagh and Thomas houses will now help to roll out the Project Compassion Boxes across the College.
On Wednesday, each of our Campuses celebrated Ash Wednesday. Our Church calls us to pray, fast and give to others as we prepare for the celebration of Easter. It was great to see the students taking part positively in the giving and receiving of ashes.
The theme chosen by the students, Be the Hands and Heart of God, continues to inspire reflection and inspiration as to how we encounter Christ in our community. The beautiful inaudible prayer from Eucharist has enabled a connection with our theme and is a prayer we can say often: Jesus in my mind (+ on forehead), Jesus in my speaking (+ on lips), Jesus in my heart (+ on heart), and for 2020 we will add: Jesus in my hands (+ on hands).
Students are now preparing for Campus Masses on 5th March (Berwick and Officer) and 10th March (Beaconsfield). Parents are welcome to attend theses Masses. Please contact the Religious Education Coordinator at your Campus.
