The Year 9 Inquiry Based Learning Project presentation evening will be held on Tuesday 18 June from 7:00pm until 8:30pm in the Hall. We would love to welcome family and friends of students on this evening as they showcase their work from the Semester.
We recently had the opportunity to gather as a campus to celebrate the presence of the Icon of Our Lady of Perpetual help. This iconic artwork depicts in a very beautiful way, the Child Jesus grasping the hand of the Blessed Mother.
He seeks comfort from his mother as he sees the instruments of his passion. The position of Mary’s hands – both holding the Child Jesus (who seems like a small adult) and at the same time presenting him to us – convey the reality of our Lord’s incarnation, that he is the true God who shows us the way, the truth and the life.
The Icon of our Lady of Perpetual Help is currently touring a number of schools in the Diocese of Sale providing a great opportunity to celebrate Mass together.
Well done to all Year 9 students who have been sitting examinations this week. Students have participated in English, Mathematics and Science Examinations. Whilst formal forms of assessment are not the only way students are assessed, the experience of participating in a formal examination setting is beneficial in preparing Year 9 students for life in a Senior School setting. In the weeks leading up to this, many staff made themselves available to run workshops after school to encourage students to make the extra effort to study and prepare.
These workshops were well attended with numbers in excess of 100 gathering after school for extra study. It is very pleasing to see so many students willing to commit themselves in the pursuit of academic achievement. We look forward to positive outcomes as a result.
Congratulations to all participants who recently represented the college at the SIS Cross Country Championships held at Baxter Park. In wintry conditions students ran the 3 km course with great commitment and enthusiasm. Overall the College finished in second position which was a great effort!
6 U/13 students finished in the top 16 to take out the pennant for that division.
Congratulations to Harvey Anderson who won his race in the U/13 division.
Thank you to the many parents and students who gathered last week to celebrate the work being done around the school and local community in the Hands On Learning program. The night also featured a tour of the HOL facility and our students cooking delicious pizzas for their parents/guardians. Thanks to Allan Grigg for coordinating this event for our students.
Congratulations to our Student Representative Council Team who have successfully implemented a new campus initiative to raise awareness around looking after the environment and keeping our school clean.
Last Wednesday, being World Environmental Day, the SRC ran a house competition whereby each House had a specific rubbish bin allocated to them. The focus was on making a concerted effort to clean up litter and place rubbish into the correct bin to support individual Houses. The bin with greatest volume at the end of the day won the House reward. Congratulations to Gallagher House who took out honours on the day!
