Each term we recognise exceptional young men and women who exhibit, excellence, the pursuit of personal best, courage, leadership or significant improvement in their studies.
The following students have been recognised as Student of the Term:
Term 1 Alicia Lamanna Year 10, Luke Cranswick Year 11, Hayley Stevens Year 12.
Term 2 Daniel Armstrong & Olivia Davenport Year 10, Bethany Hawks Year 11, Ryan Halpin & Kaylah Sloothaak Year 12
The performing arts students in Year 12 are currently performing the play “The Crucible” by Arthur Miller. The play is studied in Semester 2 for Year 12 English class for a comparative essay assessment in preparation for their end of year VCE English examination.
For the past three years the Drama department has been interested in students studying plays through an interdisciplinary approach across the English and Performing Arts departments to enhance their literacy skills and to enable them to analyse the plays in more depth.
In the past, Drama students were at an advantage as they studied plays in the English curriculum in a greater capacity, however with collaboration between both departments all Year 11 & 12 English students now have the opportunity to visualise the works for English in a performance space. These students can now see how plays are interpreted and are able to visualise characterisation and themes to enhance their analytical skills in preparation for School Assessed coursework and Examinations.
Traffic Law Enforcement by Victoria Police
St Francis Xavier College is committed to creating a safe environment for our students, parents, staff and visitors. As such we have been working with the local authorities to enforce traffic restrictions around each of the Campuses. Please note that there will be enhanced Victorian Police presence at all of the Campuses to enforce Road Laws especially in relation to parking restrictions, speeding and obeying traffic signs.
Parents / Guardians at the Berwick Campus should note especially the new restrictions on right hand turns. Right hand turns will not be permitted into or from Ridgemont Drive during school speed time zones of 8am – 9:30am and 2:30pm – 4:00pm. Cars wishing to turn into the school will do so via a left hand turn only. Cars will need to turn at the roundabout on the corner of Ridgemont Drive and Flowerfield Court so they are positioned to do a left hand turn back into the schools.
Finally a reminder that
Parents / Guardians may not enter the school grounds at the Officer and Beaconsfield Campus to drop off or pick up students.
Fines for such breaches of the road laws are listed below:
The College would like to thank the Victorian Police for their support in implementing strategies to improve the traffic flow around each campus to improve the safety for all.
