Congratulations to the DUX of 2017, Benjamin Merrick, who achieved an ATAR score of 95.8
Year 12 can be a really tough year.
Whatever the goal is that you set at the start of the year, you are the one who decides how much time and effort you will put into it.
You choose your goals, and you are the one who decides if you want to achieve them.
Something you must remember, not only in reaching for your best at school, but also in life, is that the people around you are an essential part of succeeding in reaching your goals. Whether it is your parents, your friends, teachers or your dream team, you need to use the care and guidance that they give you to be able to succeed.
A central part of my thoughts, when it comes to education, is that it is not for the scores, but about spending your time in order to be prepared to succeed in the future, and the ability to succeed in the future begins not in Year 12, but long before.
It is a great opportunity to be able to ask questions and learn throughout Year 10 and 11, and a great missed opportunity if you don’t.
To the new Year 12’s, good luck and reach for your goals, and to the Year 10’s and 11’s, use these years to prepare for where you are heading.
